VIRTUAL TEAM LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

On February 23, 2024, the world’s first in-person Virtual Team Leadership Summit was successfully held in Silicon Valley, California, United States. This summit was hosted by Dobe WE” and the Post-Pandemic Leadership Research Institute. As one of the global premier co-working space providers, Dobe WE” used this opportunity to invite their virtual office tenants offline to develop social interaction and interpersonal relationships. Additionally, some of Silicon Valley’s executive leaders, business owners, project managers, engineers, researchers, and virtual team leaders and team members attended the summit. The distinguished guest speakers were Dr. Yanli He, Ph.D. in Organizational Leadership; Dr. Lorna-Michel Wright, D.B.A. in International Business; and Yanfen Wu, CPA.

The first speaker, Dr. Yanli He, is the Co-founder and CEO of the Post-Pandemic Leadership Research Institute and Wealthford LEAD. At this summit, Dr. Yanli He delivered a speech regarding leadership on virtual teams’ success. Specifically, she discussed virtual leadership challenges, addressed the trend of hybrid virtual and in-person work model in the post-pandemic world, used her own examples to perfectly explain the importance of familiarization with virtual meeting software functions and how she kept employee retention and moved challenges to opportunities in successfully leading virtual teams to achieve longevity. Dr. Yanli He’s impressive speech and excellent examples greatly inspired virtual team leaders to cultivate attractive leadership traits, develop social interaction, encourage the heart, and build relationships to achieve virtual teams’ success in the post-pandemic world.

The second speaker, Dr. Lorna-Michel Wright, has 22 years of experience working in state governance and 10 years in international business. She is also the co-founder and secretary of the Post-Pandemic Leadership Research Institute. At this summit, she delivered a speech on virtual team leadership in international business and addressed the advantages and disadvantages of virtual teams within a multinational corporation. The third speaker, Yanfen Wu, CPA, currently serves as the VC CFO at Kranz Consulting and the CFO for the Post-Pandemic Leadership Research Institute. Prior to her current role, Yanfen, CPA was a Tax Partner at PwC, a managing director at BDO San Francisco, and worked on partnership taxation at KPMG for nine years. At this summit, Yanfen Wu, CPA, made an informative and updated speech discussing the Influence of the Corporate Transparency Act on the Global Beneficial Owner. Notably, located on the East Coast, Dr. Lorna-Michel Wright and Yanfen Wu CPA, delivered speeches via virtual Zoom meetings. 

More impressively, some attendees actively shared their virtual team leadership experiences and discussed the effective ways to achieve virtual teams’ effectiveness in the post-pandemic world. The attendees' industries included IT, project management, finance, biotechnology, personal services, retail, accounting, real estate, landscape design, restaurants, photography, etc. For example, Mr. Ralph Hodgen, who has 30 years of experience as a real estate broker, discussed AI technology advancements in virtual team development, from big screen devices to smartphones, and addressed the importance of promoting offline interaction for virtual team settings. Mr. Harry Wang, who has seven years of virtual team experience and is leading a global corporation in the Semiconductor fields with more than 300 team members in Shanghai and Chengdu (China), Hongkong, California, Arizona, Texas, New York, and South Keora, addressed the importance of pleasant communication and formal training in the digital world. Mrs. Tina Wang, who has more than ten years of global virtual team experience both in China and US, shared her virtual team leadership stories and addressed the benefits of global virtual teams. Additionally, Mr. Mengning Zhou highlighted the efficiency of the work of local virtual teams being done with AI and shared his virtual social activities in enjoying ordering food from a local restaurant together with social animals.

The 2024 Post-Pandemic Virtual Team Leadership Summit in Silicon Valley brought both global and regional virtual team leaders and team members online to offline, promoted in-person social interaction with cross-industries professionals, shared virtual leadership stories, developed innovation and interpersonal relationships, and explored effective ways in successfully leading virtual teams in the post-pandemic world. All the attendees enjoyed the summit and made great comments. The following virtual leadership summit in New York is scheduled for May 18-19, 2024.
